St. Michael's Junior School

St Michael's Junior SchoolSt Michael's is a Church of England Voluntary controlled junior school for children aged between 7-11 years old. We currently have 193 pupils on the school roll. We are proud to say St Michael's is "a good school that puts children at the heart of all that it does" (OFSTED, 2007).

The children’s standards of achievement in all aspects of learning and behaviour is good and has improved considerably in the last few years. "Pupils' achievements across the school are good. All pupils make good progress in their personal, social and emotional development because of the very strong emphasis the school places on this important aspect of learning."(OFSTED, 2007) This is reflected in the positive reputation that the school now enjoys within the local community.

St Michael’s has gained a number of awards for its achievements over the past few years such as the School Achievement Award

and the Investors in People award. We have also gained a great reputation for the high quality provision and the diversity of extra-curricular activities that we offer, earning us the Activemark, Healthy Schools and FA Chartermark awards. Additionally, our sports teams compete locally and at County level and always perform to the highest standards on and off the pitch!!

The school actively follows a policy of positive praise and reward for good behaviour. This approach is effectively raising children’s self-esteem and encouraging independence. All pupils, teaching, non-teaching staff and Governors endeavour to put the aims of the school into practice day by day and to be seen to be ‘working together for the best’reflecting the school's Christian foundations.

School Creed

This is our school
Let peace dwell here
Let the room be full of contentment
Let love abide here
Love of God
Love of one another
and love of life itself
Let us remember
That as many hands build a house
As many hearts make a school
And many hearts make Twerton
Amen

Golden Rules

Do work hard
Do look after property
